Painting: Original Oil in a classic, Circa 1910-1915 gilt frame. Image: 23.5 x 17.5". Frame: 31 x 24.5". On the back in pencil is the word "Pasture", by Coblentz, 5736 5th Ave, Los Angeles, 43". Signed in lower left, Geo. W. Coblentz. Coblentz, 1896-1973 was an accomplished Southern California Artist. According to Falk, Volume 1, page 675, he began as a topographical mapper during WW1, became a Cartoonist for the L.A. Herald in the 1920's, then worked in the Art Dept of several movies, including designing technical art for Hughes Aircraft. His paintings have been exhibited throughout the West. California
