    Featured in this lot is this artwork on professional watercolor paper called "Prowler," and the book called "Stories and Art from a World Traveler; Great Cats," by Simon Combes born in 1940 and died in 2004. The artwork features a wonderfully and professionally crafted print on professional watercolor paper. The print shows a Jaguar looking over his left shoulder while standing in the grass. The artwork is marked in the bottom right hand corner as follows: Simon Combes - 80/450. The artwork comes complete with a Certificate of Authenticity with the original packaging. The book includes stories and artwork all about the world of the great cats of the world which is what the books title is based on. The book was printed by Greenwich press in 1998 and includes photographs and artwork by Simon Combes and his experiences throughout the world exposing these marvelous creatures. The condition of this piece of artwork is good and well preserved with no obvious signs of damage to the print or the book and shows good overall condition. The measurements of this artwork is 14 1/2" x 14 1/8" and the book measures 10 3/4" x 11 3/8".

    Featured in this lot is this Museum Edition Giclee on canvas called "Heavy Drinkers," originally published in 1987 by artist Simon Combes born in 1940 and died in 2004. The artwork features a wonderfully and professionally crafted Giclee on canvas construction and shows a herd of of elephants lined up along the bank of a river with egrets and Egyptian Geese lined up on the opposite bank; the elephants are washing themselves and drinking in the safety of their herd. The artist signature can be seen in the bottom right hand corner and is numbered 12/MMVI and reads as follows: Museum Edition - A Greenwich - Giclee - Fine Arts Studios - Workshop. The painting is set in the vast wilderness of eastern Kenya's Tsavo wilderness, home to great herds of elephants, buffalo and other animals, yet inhospitable to man. Water is scarce so the Voi River's occasional pools, surrounded by lush vegetation, are magnets to a host of animals and birds . . . and the intermittent herd of elephants. While working painting Simon hosted a steady procession of visitors from nearby villages - most of whom, strange to relate, had never seen an elephant before, because they almost never traveled far enough away from their homes to see one. "They suggested many different animals to include with the elephants," he said, "but I resisted, contenting myself (somewhat masochistically) with an audience of 126 egrets, sacred ibis and Egyptian geese." The condition of this Giclee on canvas is good with no obvious signs of damage and shows good overall condition. The measurements of this Giclee on canvas is 32" x 80".

    Featured in this lot is this Giclee on canvas called "Drought, Dust, and Danger;" published in November 1999 by artist Simon Combes born in 1940 and died in 2004. The artwork features a wonderfully and professionally crafted Giclee on canvas construction that shows a herd of water buffalo walking on a dusty trail in search for a water source through the tree line. The artist signature is in the bottom right hand corner and is numbered 68/75. Drought on the West African plains can make a typically aggressive animals an even greater threat. At dawn one morning, these Cape buffalo suddenly thundered out of the sun and into the path of my rover. It seems I'd made the error of being between them and their watering hole and they had no intention of halting for me. Now, you don't want to take chances around Cape buffalo; even when one is weak and wounded, it's been known to run off a bit, take a wide circle and then come out of an ambush to charge you. So I threw my rover in reverse and backed up as if my life depended on it - which it did." The condition of this of this Giclee on canvas is good with no obvious signs of damage and shows good overall condition. The measurements of this Giclee on canvas is 25" x 60".

    Featured in this lot is this Giclee on canvas called "Confrontation," circa 1987 from artist Simon Combes born in 1940 and died in 2004. The artwork features a wonderfully and professionally crafted Giclee on canvas construction that shows a lone male elephant charging forward from the herd exposing itself for this artwork. The artist signature is in the bottom right hand corner and is numbered 3/MMXIII. The location is the Masai Mara game reserve in Kenya, a few miles north of the Tanzania border and the vast Serengeti. Small herds of elephants cross into this game reserve from the south, where poaching is prevalent. When humans approach they will immediately bunch together with the mature cows facing outward, ears outspread to catch every sound, trunks questing the air for danger and the youngsters hidden and protected behind their elders,” related Simon Combes. “This fine tusker before the herd is one that lost patience with my persistent presence. It chose the moment when I was half- way out of the roof hatch with the engine turned off to suddenly throw out his ears and blast his way towards the car. Sketch book, pencil and camera went flying as instinctively I performed half a dozen escape actions in the space of a split second. Pulling up short, he shook his head in disgust, dislodged a large cloud of dust and stalked away with his dignity intact.” The dramatic color combinations of the Masai Mara and the wild spirit of Africa come alive in this Anniversary Edition Fine Art Canvas. The condition of this Giclee on canvas is good with no obvious signs of damage and shows good overall condition. The measurements of this Giclee on canvas is 18" x 36".

    For your consideration is a Limited Anniversary Edition Signed Giclee on Canvas of, "Confrontation" by Simon Combes, #1/35. Simon Combes (1940-2004), was an artist born in Shaftesbury, England. Residing most of his life in Kenya, Combes was well known for his paintings of African wildlife and dedication to conservation. In February 2005, the Artists For Conservation organization created a conservation award in the artist's honor. This giclee on canvas is in excellent condition, no marring noted. Provenance from the Greenwich Workshop is included. Measures 18"W x 36"L
