Jay Contway (1935-2019) Bill Linderman Bronze

        Est: $350 - $700

Featured in this lot is this bronze sculpture of Bill Linderman by Montana artist Jay Contway born in 1935 and died in 2019. The bronze bust features a wonderfully and professionally crafted bronze construction that features the likeness of Rodeo legend Bill Linderman. Bill Linderman was an American Rodeo Cowboy who competed on the RCA circuit in the 1940's and 1950's. During his career, he won RCA All-Around Cowboy titles in 1950 and 1953, along with an unofficial All-Around Cowboy championship in 1945; in addition, he earned season championships in rodeo disciplines four times. The bust shows his likeness while wearing a cowboy hat and is marked on the back 'Bill Linderman' and shows the artist hallmark 'JC' and is marked on the side of the shoulder 14/100. Jay Joseph Contway was born February 13, 1935 in Malta, Montana and passed away November 21, 2019 in Great Falls, Montana. He was divinely blessed with a God-given talent for western art. He painted in watercolor and oil, but as we all know, his greatest gift was his ability to sculpt in clay and cast in bronze. The condition of this bronze sculpture is good with no obvious signs of damage and shows good overall condition. The measurements of this bronze are 5 1/4" x 3 3/8" x 3 1/2".
