        Two 1949 French Modernist Abstract Etchings, black and white, numbered and signed in the margin. French printmaker and painter, Pierre Louis Maurice Courtin was born in Rebrechieu,Loiret, and studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris and Academie Julian. In 1945 Courtin illustrated William Faulkner's novel, As I Lay Dying. From 1947 to 1951 he worked as an engraver for the printer Georges Leblanc and in the same capacity for Jacques Villon. Condition commensurate with age. Overall size each: 22 x 15 in. Sight size each: 12 x 9 3/4 in.
