Attached en verso is a Findlay Galleries tag, as well as gallery tag attributing this to Thomas Creswick. The work is housed in an ornate gilt frame. The work has craquelure, scuffs to its perimeter, scattered inpainting, and paint loss, lower right. The canvas measures 28" x 34 1/4", and the frame measures 34" x 40". It weighs 19.5 lbs. A beautiful landscape painting titled "A Cascade" by 19th C. British artist Thomas Creswick.     Thomas Creswick (1811-1869) Fisher Boy and Dog at Crossing Third quarter of the 19th Century. The classic British School landscape depicting a pleasant summer day is nicely lit by the sun from left to right with interesting atmospheric effect portrayed on the trunks of the large creekside trees. A boy and dog approach a make-do crossing of rocks from the right. No monogram or signature was found. Canvas measures 32.25 x 50.5 with a framed size of 42.25 x 62 inches.     Thomas Creswick (1811 Sheffield - 1869 London) Landschaft mit Angler an einem felsigen Bachlauf in Wales Spätromantische Landschaft Creswicks, der zu der Birmingham School von Landschaftsmalern gehört. Schon 1827 debütierte er in der Society of British Artists in London, im darauffolgenden Jahr in der Royal Academy. 1842 wurde Creswick zum assoziierten und 1850 zum ordentlichen Mitglied der Academy gewählt. Nach genauem Studium der Natur und Landschaft, malte er meist vor Ort. Seine Lieblingsmotive waren englische und walisische Bäche. Öl/Lwd., doubl.; L. u. sign. u. dat. 1865. 45,5 cm x 63,5 cm. Rahmen. Oil on canvas, relined. Signed and dated 1865.
