    Original antique travel advertising poster for the winter tourism Service d'Hiver Chemins de Fer Paris-Lyon-Mediterranee PLM railway company, promoting its winter services to Italy. This magnificent Belle Epoque lithograph by the renowned Italian graphic designer and painter Carlo Cussetti (1866-1949) is a vibrant and captivating window into the heart of Italy at the turn of the 20th century. The composition is a rich visual tapestry, featuring cameo-like vignettes of Italy’s most celebrated cities and landmarks. At the top, the Roman Colosseum and the Roman Forum represent Rome, while the Palazzo Vecchio and the Loggia dei Lanzi illustrate Florence. The central, largest vignette offers a sweeping view of Naples and its bay, with the smoking cone of Mount Vesuvius in the background. The lower section is dedicated to Venice, showcasing the intricate facade of St Mark's Basilica and the bustling Piazza San Marco, complete with its iconic pigeons and a view towards the Grand Canal. Ornate floral arrangements of roses and dahlias frame these scenes, adding to the Art Nouveau elegance of the design. The poster prominently features the PLM branding in stylised typography and lists the direct services available from France, Belgium, and Switzerland to the Italian peninsula. Printed by R Bonis Lit.
