A similar motif has already been sold for €3,000 in the international market Condition: The painting is in good overall condition with slight pressure marks caused by the stretcher, fine craquelure and minor paint losses. The man’s face has been retouched professionally (not visible to the naked eye).The dimensions are 74 x 59 cm. Maxime Dastugue (1851-1909) Maxime Dastugue studied under the guidance of Jean Léon Gérome and exhibited regularly his works at the Paris Salon from 1876 to 1901. In 1889, he traveled to the Middle East, resulting in a radical change of his style of painting. The dark academic motifs were replaced by exotic figural scenes.
