Collection of 3 drawings: Théodore CHAUVEL (1831-1910) "The great oak" Charcoal, heightened with white chalk on gray paper, 47 x 31 cm, dated 64 and signature stamp lower right. Eugène LAMI (1800-1890) “Helmet, halberds, swords, guns…” Gouache watercolors, 25x7.5cm and 25x4.5cm on a blue sheet, signed lower left. Between 1819 and 1821, he produced an important series on the uniforms of the French army. Louis-Philippe ordered numerous paintings from him on military subjects for the museum of French history that he had created at the Palace of Versailles. Adrien DAUZATS (1804-1868) "Ayuntamiento (Barcelona Town Hall)" Lead pencil (23x19cm) titled, dated 1833, stamped "Vente Dauzats" and monogrammed in ink. Provenance: Pierre-Henri MAYEUX then by descent. Pierre-Henri MAYEUX (1845-1929) Government Architect: The Sacré-Cœur in Paris, the Museum of Decorative Arts, the École Polytechnique, the Sèvres factory… painter, draftsman and engraver, exhibited at the Salon of French Artists from 1873 . Works in museum collections, including the Louvre (decorator of Sèvres vases placed in the large painting gallery), Orsay (drawings), Petit Palais (drawings)... Professor of decorative art at the École nationale des fine arts and author of reference books always republished including: La Composition decorative, 1885, Paris: Société française d'Édition d'Art et Fantaisies architecturales, 1898, Paris: Armand Guérinet. Delivery of the lots without transport costs to Paris (rue Drouot), Lyon or Marseille a few days after the sale or dispatch at the buyer's expense by the carrier of their choice. Eugène LAMI (1800-1890) "Casque, hallebardes, épées, fusils… " Aquarelles gouachées, 25x7,5cm et 25x4,5cm sur une feuille bleue, signée en bas à gauche. Entre 1819 et 1821, il produisit une importante série sur les uniformes de l'armée française. Louis-Philippe lui commanda de nombreux tableaux à sujets militaires pour le musée de l'histoire du France qu'il avait créée au château de Versailles. Studien eines stehenden Arabers. -- Bleistift, quadriert in Bleistift. 31,2 x 45,4 cm. -- -- Ein weiteres Blatt mit Studien desselben Mannes verwahrt das Musée Magnin in Dijon (Inv. 1938 DF 226). In deren Online-Katalog ist vermerkt, dass die Zeichnung im Zusammenhang mit einer Reise Dauzats' nach Jaffa 1830 entstanden sein könnte. Dauzats war damals mit Baron Taylor nach Ägypten aufgebrochen, um in Luxor ein Obelisk zu erwerben. Die Reise führte weiter nach Syrien und Palästina, wo sie sich im Juli und August desselben Jahres aufhielten. -- -- - Provenienz: Nachlassauktion des Künstlers, Paris, vom 1.-4. Adrien Dauzats was born in Bordeaux in 1804. He was a painter, illustrator, and writer. His early training was as a theatrical scene painter, and designer of lithographs. He first worked in Bordeaux under Pierre Lacour. He later became an assistant to the scene painter Thomas Olivier, who was the Chief Decorator at the Grand Theatre in Bordeaux. He moved to Paris, and joined the studio of Julien Michel Gue, the historical and landscape painter. Julien Gue recommended him to the decorators of the Theatre Italien, as well as Mattis, Desroches and Blanchard. Signed lower right. Sight Size: 7.75 x 12 in. Overall Framed Size: 14 x 18 in. Here, Dauzats has taken liberty with the conventions of a vanishing point. In this work, the observer is presented with an impossible view of the structure; we are given a slightly elevated look into the corridor as well as its rib-vaulted ceilings to convey a sense of the enormity and grandeur of the imposing interior.George Viau (1855-1939) was born in Paris. The son of a dentist of the Russian Imperial court, Viau was a great patron of the arts. He was personal friends to most of the artists from whom he purchased artworks. In 1942, at the Paris Hôtel Drouot, works from his collection were sold with Auctioneers Mr. Alph Bellier, Mr. Etienne Ader and Mr. D.H. Baudouin.
