Born in Germany, Peter Dean immigrated to the United States with his family in 1938. His work is characterized by fantastical figural scenes executed in a heavy impasto of bright colors. In 1984, his paintings were exhibited alongside those of fellow expressionist luminaries Edvard Munch, Chaim Soutine, and James Ensor at the Galleri Bellman on 57th Street in New York City. Provenance: Acquired directly from the artist | Allan Stone Gallery, New York condition: Few small areas of stable crazing along edges of work visible under close examination. Upper edge exhibits two small areas of loss to pigments, each measuring approximately 0.25 inches in size. Good condition. Framed without glazing measuring 13 x 8 x 2 inches.
