Amine Demnati's career was brief but impressive. Trained in Casablanca and Paris (Métiers d'art, Arts décoratifs, École du Louvre), he began exhibiting in France and Spain in 1961, before disappearing at the age of 29, leaving behind a dense and singular body of work. His work, centered on crowds, rituals and collective movements, is characterized by a warm, earthy palette and expressive stylization. Painted in the early 1960s, *Ahouache* condenses his relationship with Amazigh tradition: a group of women with imposing headdresses and striped dresses stand out in a space saturated with verticals, in front of the architecture of a ksar or kasbah. Demnati's thick, masterful brushwork favors evocation over narration, restoring the rhythmic, mysterious essence of the collective ahouache dance.

Moroccan painter Amine Demnati was born in Marrakech in 1942. After initial training at the Applied Arts School in Casablanca, he continued his studies in Paris, at the École des Métiers d'art, the École des Arts décoratifs, then the École du Louvre. He began exhibiting in Paris in 1961, then in Madrid in 1965. His premature death in Rabat in 1971, at the age of 29, left behind a dense, sensitive and singular body of work. Fascinated by crowds, rituals and moving figures, he painted animated scenes with restraint and intensity, using a warm, earthy palette dominated by ochres, reds and blacks. Ahouache, painted in the early 1960s, powerfully illustrates this intimate relationship with tradition. In a space saturated with rhythms and verticals, a group of women with voluminous headdresses and striped dresses, frozen in a moment of dance or song. The brushstrokes are thick, almost primitive, but carefully orchestrated: each figure is part of a rigorous construction combining monumentality, stylization and expressiveness. The background, dominated by the high towers of a ksar or kasbah, anchors the scene in southern Morocco, while the silhouettes, simplified to the extreme, seem to emerge from the pictorial material itself. Demnati does not seek narration, but evocation. Here, he restores the essence of the ahouache - the Amazigh collective dance - in a condensation of rhythm, verticality and mystery.
