        DICKENS FRANK: (1932- ) British Cartoonist. Two original black pen and ink Bristow cartoon strips (18 x 14) drawn by Dickens, unsigned, each featuring his most famous creation, the buying clerk Bristow. With text neatly mounted to the strips and extensive areas of white correction fluid applied, largely to the edges. With date stamps to the verso indicating that the strips were published on 14th & 21st January 1964. Some light age wear, G, 2. According to Guinness World Records Bristow was the longest running daily cartoon strip by a single author since its first publication in September 1961.

        Frank William Huline Dickens (Born 1932) Six Original 'Bristow' Cartoons. Executed in felt tip pen. All signed. Frank Dickens was cartoonist illustrator and writer. His work has appeared in many publications including the Daily Sketch, Mirror/Express and Mail and Sunday Times. He has worked on many advertising campaigns (BT, Peugeot, London Transport etc.) He has also written thrillers and childrens books. However his most famous creation is 'Bristow' the bowler hatted rebel with a toothbrush moustache who works in the office of R.L.Chester-Perry Co. Ltd. Bristow appeared in the Evening Standard from 1962. A biographical account of Frank Dickens is included in this lot.

        Frank W.H. Dickens. Four Original Bristow Cartoons executed in black felt-tip pen, all signed. Frank Dickens was a cartoonist (five times voted cartoonist of the year and a founder member of the British Cartoonists Association) Illustrator and writer. Bristow the bowler hatted city gent was his most famous creation appearing in the Evening Standard in 1962 and subsequently Internationally syndicated. These four cartoons relate to Bristows holiday at Winklebeach. A printed biography of Frank Dickens accompanies this Lot.

        Frank William Huline Dickens 1932- "Bristow" pen and black ink, original artwork illustrations for publication, 11x48cm: together with a further twelve original pen and black ink Bristow cartoon strips, 11x48cm each. Notes: Frank Dickens began his famous Bristow strip in the Sunday Times in 1960. The character Bristow was a buying clerk and 18th in line for Chief Buyer in the Chester-Perry Organization. His adventures involved everything to do with the drudgery of commuting, red tape and office life. (13) (unframed) (may be subject to Droit de Suite)
