MADONNA MIT DEM KIND 39 x 32 cm. Links oben signiert und undeutlich datiert „...36". Terrakotta, dunkel patiniert. Tatsächlich macht das Relief auf den ersten Blick den Eindruck eines Renaissance-Originals, jedoch weist die Signatur links oben auf den neuzeitlichen Künstler hin. Dossena besaß derart hohe Kunstfertigkeit und Stilkenntnisse, dass zahlreiche seiner Werke in die bedeutendsten Museen der Welt als Originale der Antike oder der Renaissance gelangten – so etwa ins Metropolitan Museum in New York. Ein Prozess sprach den Künstler vom Vorwurf der Fälschung frei, Gewinner waren die Händler, die Sachverständigen zutiefst degradiert. Trotz der Millionen-Summen, die an seinen Werken verdient wurden, starb der Künstler in einem Armenspital. 1930 drehte Hans Cürlis einen Film über Alceo Dossena. A.R. Alceo Dossena (attributed to) (Cremona 1878 - Rome 1937) Madonna Enthroned with Child Small sculptural group in neo-Gothic style depicting the seated Virgin who supports her son with her left hand, resting on her forearm. Both figures are turned towards the viewer; the Child, with a smiling expression, holds a small sphere in his left hand to symbolize His dominion over the whole earth; his right hand touches a hem of the Mother's dress. A cloak falls over the dress, held on the head by a crown. Trapezoidal base. On the back an iron ring to facilitate attachment. The sculpture stylistically recalls the "Standing Madonna" in the Museo dell'Opera del Duomo in Orvieto (MODO), a work from the mid-fourteenth century attributed to Nino and Andrea Pisano. white marble cm 50x23x20

Das faltenreiche Gewand dient als zusätzlicher Rahmen und umhüllt das Kind. Mit leicht gesenktem Kopf blickt Maria aus der Komposition leicht über Jesus hinweg, der sie mit seinen wohlgeformten, weichen Gesichtszügen, leicht geöffneten Lippen und dicken Wangen liebevoll anschaut. Platte rest. (1421381) (19) Der italienische Bildhauer und Steinmetz Dossena schuf zwischen 1918 und 1928 zahlreiche Werke im Stil der Antike und der Renaissance, die vielfach für Originale gehalten wurden.
