Membre fondatrice du groupe « Memphis », un mouvement de design et d’architecture qui se forme en Italie autour d’Ettore Sottsass dans les années 1980, elle se consacre au Design jusqu’en 1986. Lorsqu’elle travaille sur un motif, Nathalie Du Pasquier avance par intuition, découpant, modelant et juxtaposant les formes : son travail assemble couleurs, formes, motifs, dans des compositions minimales et géométriques comme autant d’architectures improbables, où se mêlent dans une joyeuse liberté des natures mortes à la beauté calme, des motifs électriques, des paysages domestiques et des jeux de construction, comme autant d’improbables espaces visuels à explorer du regard. Son travail actuel fait dialoguer peinture abstraite et constructions tridimensionnelles disposées dans l’espace. EN Nathalie du Pasquier is a french painter and designer born in Bordeaux in 1957, who has lived in Milan since 1979. A founding member of the “Memphis” group, a design and architecture movement formed in Italy around Ettore Sottsass in the 1980s, she devoted herself to design until 1986. She designed numerous “decorated surfaces”: textiles, carpets, laminated plastics, as well as furniture and objects. Since 1987, her main activity has been painting. Membre fondatrice du groupe « Memphis », un mouvement de design et d’architecture qui se forme en Italie autour d’Ettore Sottsass dans les années 1980, elle se consacre au Design jusqu’en 1986. Elle a dessiné de nombreuses « surfaces décorées » : textiles, tapis, plastiques laminés, ainsi que du mobilier et des objets. Depuis 1987 son activité principale est la peinture. Lorsqu’elle travaille sur un motif, Nathalie Du Pasquier avance par intuition, découpant, modelant et juxtaposant les formes : son travail assemble couleurs, formes, motifs, dans des compositions minimales et géométriques comme autant d’architectures improbables, où se mêlent dans une joyeuse liberté des natures mortes à la beauté calme, des motifs électriques, des paysages domestiques et des jeux de construction, comme autant d’improbables espaces visuels à explorer du regard.
