Mounted in a black lacquer wooden frame with mat behind glass mat. Paper measures approx. 33 1/2" height x 24 3/4" width. Measures approx. 43 1/2" height x 35 1/2" width overall with frame. Appears in overall good condition.

Regency Auction HouseRichard Ely, American, 1928-2009, Pair of Male Nude Studies, ink wash, c 1955, each signed lower right. Ely was a prolific and highly successful fashion illustrator for clients such as Saks Fifth Avenue, Lord & Taylor and Bloomingdales. Ely taught fashion illustration at New York's Fashion Institute of Technolgy for many years. He was also note for his portraits of the famous including Josephine Baler, Bobby Short, Groucho makrs and fashion icons such as Anna Wintour and Diana Vreeland. Ely's work in the collection of the Museum of Fine Art, Boston and New York's Metropolitan Museum. His portrait of Vreeland is in the National Portrait Gallery in Washington D.C. (RGRA2004/2 TC) images 9" x 16.25" and 10.75 x 16.8", framed 14.75" x 22.75 and 16.75 x 23.4
