Sein vielfältiges Schaffen konzentrierte sich vor allem auf marginalisierte Personengruppen wie People of Color und die LGBTQ+-Community. Dans son œuvre photographique, Olaf utilise souvent les conventions de la photographie de mode, mises au service de compositions complexes et de portraits laconiques. L’extrême sophistication de ses descriptions et la précision de l’ensemble des éléments visuels confèrent à ses photographies une apparente sérénité. Celle-ci dissimule un sous-texte évoquant des questions profondément humaines et sociales : déclin de l’occident, tabous sociétaux, politiques de genre, problématiques queer… et une interrogation récurrente: qu’est-ce que la normalité ? EN Dutch multidisciplinary artist Erwin Olaf Springveld, studied journalism in Utrecht before working as an editorial and commercial photograph. In his art photography he often puts the conventions of fashion photography into the service of beautifully complex, often existentially terse portraiture. His emphasis is on precision in all of the visual elements that create an allure of serenity; but these highly stylised, polished depictions always have a subtext, addressing social issues, societal taboos and gender politics.
