    A vintage Uruguayan oil painting on canvas signed P. Figari. The painting depicts a wedding scene between a man in a tuxedo and a woman in a fluffy white dress with a fan and veil. Signed lower left. In frame measures 10 1/2"x15"x3/4". Weight Pedro Figari, 1861 to 1938, was a Uruguayan painter, lawyer, writer, and politician. Although he did not begin the practice until his later years, he is best known as an early modernist painter who emphasized capturing the everyday aspects of life in his work. In most of his pieces, he attempts to capture the essence of his home by painting local customs that he had observed in his childhood. The National School of Art, a museum in Montevideo, as well as one of the halls of the Municipal Museum of Fine Arts where some of the artists works are on permanent display, are named after Pedro Figari. **In house shipping available on this lot** If you win this lot, please select self arranged for in house shipping when paying**

    A vintage Uruguayan oil painting on canvas after Pedro Figari. The painting depicts a wedding scene between a man in a tuxedo and a woman in a fluffy white dress with a fan and veil. Signed lower left. Matted and framed. Pedro Figari, 1861 to 1938, was a Uruguayan painter, lawyer, writer, and politician. Although he did not begin the practice until his later years, he is best known as an early modernist painter who emphasized capturing the everyday aspects of life in his work. In most of his pieces, he attempts to capture the essence of his home by painting local customs that he had observed in his childhood. The National School of Art, a museum in Montevideo, as well as one of the halls of the Municipal Museum of Fine Arts where some of the artists works are on permanent display, are named after Pedro Figari. Pedro Figari was a Uruguayan artist, lawyer, politician, journalist, philosopher, and writer. Figari wrote on many topics ranging from judicial matters to essays on education, aesthetics, and poetry. as a youth, he studied painting with the Italian Godofredo Somavilla, but his own style and unique vision were not revealed until 1921 when he moved to Buenos Aires. After four years of intense activity in Argentina, Figari moved to Paris, where he remained for nine years, ultimately reaching his artistic maturity. One of a kind artwork.
