BIOGRAPHY: Dorothea Fischer-Nosbisch was a German graphic artist, graphic designer, poster designer and stamp artist.In 1937 she began her studies at the Stadelschule in Frankfurt am Main. There she met her future husband Fritz Fischer (1919-1997), with whom she founded a shared studio after the war in 1945 and worked primarily for the film distributor Atlas Film.Their best-known works include posters for the films The Silence (1964), The Blue Angel (1964), Midday (1959), Dear John (1965) and The Seven Year Itch (1966). They developed and implemented innovative concepts for film marketing in collaboration with fellow designers such as Heinz Edelmann, Karl Oskar Blase, Bele Bachem , Isolde Monson-Baumgart and Jan Lenica. In 1964, the posters were awarded as one of the 100 best posters. Dorothea Fischer-Nosbisch was one of the founding members of the design group novum in 1958. In 1967, she separated professionally and privately from Fritz Fischer. She subsequently designed several stamps for the German Federal Post Office (1976, 1984, and 1991 ). She worked as an art teacher in Frankfurt and as a freelance artist.
