Formal portrait of Judge James Marsh Douglas who was an Associate justice of the Supreme Court of Missouri who served on the court from 1937 to 1949. His victory over a politically connected opponent in the 1938 election contributed to the adoption of the Missouri Plan for selecting judges. Damage to the canvas and frame. From the Collection of James K. Douglas, as this portrait is of his father.
