Note: This lithograph served as the endpapers for Lewis Gannett's book, Cream Hill, 1949, with other illustrations. From the estate of Adolf and Virginia Dehn.

      Ruth Gannett , American, 1896-1979, Fishes at a Dinner Party, original graphite drawing, signed, together with a pencil signed lithograph, probably from the artist's Cream Hill series, 1948. The artist in the 1940's and 50's was well known for book illustrations, however this drawing appears much earlier. Property Title: From the Estate of Barbara Farnsworth of West Cornwall, CT. She was the life partner of the late Harry L. Colley II. Barbara was born on June 18th 1934 in New York City, the daughter of the late William and Margaret (Leczer) Blaha. Barbara graduated from Middlebury College in 1955 and worked as an oil and gas researcher at McGraw Hill. She married Clyde H. Farnsworth on September 3, 1956. They moved to Europe in 1963 where Clyde was a New York Times foreign correspondent in London, Brussels and Paris, and Barbara worked as a correspondent for the Economist magazine. In 1978, Barbara returned to the United States and acquired Martin Gold's book shop in West Cornwall. Over the next 40 years, as a member of ABAA, she grew the business into one of the most respected antiquarian bookstores in America. (BFAR3014/2) (TC)

      Ruth Gannett (American, 1896 - 1979), thirteen lithographs, unframed, two large and two small pencil signed LR, items include: nine illustrations from "Miss Hickory", Bailey, 1947, including three each of 'Squirrel poking Miss H.' and 'Squirrel holding detached head', one signed, along with two of 'Squirrel in Nest', and one large depiction of 'Animals going to talk', signed, punctures and toning, plate size: 7 1/2" h. x 22 3/4" w.; along with "Flower 4", floral study most likely for "Cream Hill", signed, plate size: "8 1/4" h. x 6 1/2" w.; and last three small of single leaf, one signed, all pieces with wear consistent with age and use including wear to edges, occasional corner crease, very light toning, etc.
