Ink and color on silk. Japan, late 18th – 19th century In this scene we see a daily scene on a rural farmyard of a man carrying a vat and a boy stepping through the gate, possibly to water the brown horse. The scene is set amid a peasant surrounding – baskets, trees, waters; and a steep mountain mumbling in the far distance. Goshun’s succinct painting style offers clear detail combined with a pinch of humor, to only mention the peasant’s face! Signed to the lower left GOSHUN 呉春, and sealed GOSHUN no in 呉春之印 (seal of). Brocade mounting, wood rollers, good condition, and with wooden case PAINTING 110 x 34,7 CM, SCROLL189 x 42,6 CM From a German private collection *regarding the artist see no. 152 Condition reports and further images are available upon request Der Blick geht direkt in ein ländliches Gehöft hinein, ein größeres Gebäude und Hütten. Ink and color on silk. Japan, late 18th - 19th cent. The scene is set amid a peasant surrounding - baskets, trees, waters; and a steep mountain mumbling in the far distance. Goshun's succinct painting style offers clear detail combined with a pinch of humor, to only mention the peasant's face! Signed to the lower left GOSHUN ??, and sealed GOSHUN no in ???? (seal of). Est: €2,000 - €2,200

Ink and color on silk. Brocade, Jikusaki out of ivory. Japan, Kakemono This fine painting reminds us of Goshun´s great talent in grasping the character of a landscape, while also rendering it as a composition of elements, beautiful all in their own. Here the different forms of the pine trees attract the painter. Scenery depth is formed through single trees in the foreground, some simple wash lines and drier strokes in the background. A caption in the lower left corner, by Matsumura Keibun: "Without a doubt the work of my brother Gekkei". Inspected by Keibun: ???????????? Seal: KEIBUN ??
