Trained in Madrid, Kieff Antonio Grediaga developed from a young age a solid artistic base between drawing, architecture and craftsmanship. His career expanded internationally after emigrating to Brazil and Argentina, where he incorporated musical and scenic studies that marked his creative sensitivity. In Vienna he definitively oriented his career towards sculpture, influenced by both great composers and modern art. Throughout his career he held numerous exhibitions in Europe, America and Asia, and created works ranging from intimate formats to monumental sculptures, today integrated into prominent institutional collections.

In Kieff Antonio Grediaga's work, titles play a fundamental role as an interpretative bridge between formal abstraction and the viewer's experience. Far from literally describing the piece, they function as poetic or conceptual keys that guide the reading without limiting it. Kieff Antonio Grediaga began his artistic training in cabinetmaking, working with his father in the restoration of religious furniture. His first exhibition was held in 1968 at the Moos Gallery (Montreal), where all the pieces were acquired, a fact that consolidated his international projection. Since then he has presented his work in galleries and fairs in Canada, the United States, Japan, Taiwan, Israel and various European regions. Among his recent exhibitions is El Canto del Hierro (Cádiz, 2022), dedicated to Manuel de Falla's Siete canciones populares españolas (Seven Popular Spanish Songs). In the urban environment, his monumental sculpture The Turning Point (iron and aluminum) was exhibited in Columbus Circle, New York, as part of an international fair in 1980. Kieff's work is part of institutional collections such as the National Museum of Fine Arts (Havana, Cuba), the Emilio Bacardi Moreau Museum (Santiago de Cuba) and the Museum of the City (Madrid, Spain). His production ranges from small-format bronzes to monumental structures in iron, wood or marble. Antonio Grediaga Kieff was born in Madrid, and has been an educator and maker around the globe since the mid-20th century. Kieff is renowned worldwide for his biomorphic, organic, and flowing sculptures made from wide arrays of materials. Outside of works like these, Kieff's work shows similar forms to this work in bronze through painting, illustration, and jewelry. Here, like in many of the works in the artist's oeuvre, we see Kieff's legendary abstract swirling form create several modes of optical excitement.

Included with the sculpture is the original 1978 invoice from Buyways Gallery in Sarasota, Florida. Also included is an artist signed hardback book and exhibition catalog with drawings inscribed to Dr Charles Stern. From Askart.com: A sculptor, painter, graphic artist, draftsman, muralist, printmaker, jewelry maker and educator, Kieff Antonio Grediaga, (1936 - ) who signs his works Kieff, was born in Madrid, Spain and has lived in Montreal and Saint Bruno (a suburb of Montreal), Quebec, Canada since 1969 (his late wife, whom he married in 1968, was Canadian). Although Grediaga's oeuvre is impressive and wide ranging, he's probably best known for his table-top bronzes and monumental public space sculptures. His mediums include bronze, aluminum, steel, wood, iron, marble, granite, commemorative medals, acrylic, oil, gouache, tempera, fresco, pastel, collage, found objects, etching, gold, gemstones, installations, and mixed mediums. Most of his work is abstract, therefore the primary subjects are shape, color and texture. However, the bullfighting fan appears frequently in various mediums and his other subjects include busts, figures, nudes, dancers, still lifes, symbolism, allegory and architectural studies. His styles include Abstract Expressionism, Biomorphism, Color Field Painting, Concrete Art, Constructivism, Cubism, Fauvism, Kinetic Art and Surrealism. Grediaga is mostly a self taught artist. However, before coming to Canada, he studied: industrial design;, engineering; architecture drama and music (operatic singing) at various schools in Madrid (1950 - 1956) Sao Paulo, Brazil (1959 - 1961) Buenos Aires, Argentina (1961 - 1966) Barcelona, Spain (1966 - 1967) and Vienna, Austria (1967 - 1969). Since immigrating to Canada, he's also lived and worked in Barcelona, Spain (1972); Japan (1972 and 1983); Pietrasanta, Italy (1976); Tel Aviv, Israel (1977); New York City (1979 - 1980); Taiwan (1987 - 1988); and Havana, Cuba (frequently from 1997) where he opened a foundry art workshop school in 2000. His works have been exhibited in the Mann Auditorium, Tel Aviv, Israel (1977) the National Gallery, Taipei, Taiwan (1988), the Chiang Kai-Shek Museum, Kaohsiung, Taiwan (1988), the Centre d Art Ozias Leduc, St. Hilaire, Quebec (1994), the Cultural Centre of Spain, Havana (1998 and 2002), the Emilio Bacardi Moreau Museum, Santiago de Cuba (2005) the National Museum of Fine Arts, Havana, Cuba (2006) and the Museum of the City, Madrid (2009). Antonio Grediaga Kieff was born in Madrid, and has been an educator and maker around the globe since the mid-20th century. Kieff is renowned worldwide for his biomorphic, organic, and flowing sculptures made from wide arrays of materials. Outside of works like these, Kieff's work shows similar forms to this work in bronze through painting, illustration, and jewelry. Here, like in many of the works in the artist's oeuvre, we see Kieff's legendary abstract swirling form create several modes of optical excitement.
