            Daniel Greiner, "Greiner-Bibel", 15 signierte Holzschnitte Daniel Greiner, 1872 Pforzheim - 1943 Jugenheim, Künstler und Politiker. Hier: 15 Holzschnitte aus der bekannten "Greiner-Bibel", darunter Adam und Eva, Eva und die Schlange, Eva stiehlt den Apfel, der Baum der Erkenntnis, Erschaffung Adams, Geburt Kains und weitere, einmal Titelseite "Adam und Eva", 15 Holzschnitte/Seidenpapier, Seitengröße 31 x 23 cm, bis auf ein Blatt alle signiert, je betitelt, Ecken teils mit Knickfalte, o. Rahmen Zum Künstler: Daniel Greiner studierte er an der Berliner Bildhauerschule und in Paris. Eine erste Ausstellung 1903 in der Darmstädter Kunsthalle ebnete ihm den Weg in die Darmstädter Künstlerkolonie, deren Mitglied er von 1903 bis 1906 war. 1906 ließ er sich in Jugenheim nieder, wo er den Felsberg-Verlag gründete, wo er sein umfangreiches grafisches Werk veröffentlichte. Die nach ihm benannte zweibändige „Greiner-Bibel“ ist sein bekanntestes Werk. Sie besteht aus 147 Holzschnitten zu Themen des Alten und Neuen Testamentes. Waren seine Kunstwerke zunächst vom Jugendstil geprägt, wurde er später ein Vertreter des expressiven Realismus.

            DANIEL GREINER Pforzheim 1872 - 1943 Jugenheim Weiblicher Akt mit Schlange. Verso bezeichnet „Aus dem Nachlaß von Dr. Daniel Greiner/Rembrandt Greiner“ (Sohn des Künstlers). 35,5 x 25,5 cm. Zuerst als Pfarrer tätig, schied Greiner 1902 aus seinem Amt aus. Ab 1903 war als als Bildhauer und Maler tätig und wurde Mitglied der Künstlerkolonie Darmstadt. Bis 1926 als kommunistischer Politiker tätig, versuchte er Christentum und Politik zu verbinden schuf zwischen 1924-32 zahlreiche Holz- und Linolschnitten für die letztlich unvollendet gebliebene „Greiner-Bibel“, aber auch radikale, politische Arbeiten. Nach 1933 wurde er politisch verfemt, blieb aber künstlerisch aktiv. Gerahmt. [bg]
