At that time, Affandi and Hendra Gunawan lived together in Yogyakarta. Their friendship was so deep that they even shared their paint supplies when they painted. Consequently, if studied, there are paintings by both Affandi and Gunawan from that time that have very similar colors. Gunawan gave the portrait to Affandi as a gift of their friendship. Therefore, the painting is not signed by Gunawan. Instead, Affandi wrote and signed it himself, and on the back of the painting, the year of creation and the year it was given to the collector are written.
