English artist Hamilton Hamilton was born in 1847, and emigrated to New York with his family as a child. Though mostly self taught, he worked as an illustrator and portrait artist after moving to Connecticut. Painter Hamilton Hamilton pursued his art career further, despite receiving little encouragement from his parents.
