The Offset Lithograph is from an unknown edition size. and is not framed. The condition was rated A-: Near Mint, very light signs of handling. Additional details: This poster, titled Interiors, was created by Richard Hamilton to advertise his exhibition at Galerie Maeght, held from January 22 to March 6, 1981, at 14 rue de Teheran, Paris, France. The image featured in the poster depicts the inside of a jail cell, reflecting Hamilton’s response to the hunger strike organized by jailed IRA members during the years of Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher’s leadership. Hamilton, known for his politically charged works, created this piece as a commentary on the conditions faced by the Irish Republican prisoners who protested against the British government’s refusal to recognize them as political prisoners. The hunger strikes of 1981, led by figures like Bobby Sands, garnered widespread attention and deeply affected public discourse. The poster, designed by Hamilton himself, not only promoted his exhibition but also echoed his views on the pressing political and social issues of the era.

    Est: $50 - $75

The Offset Lithograph is from an unknown edition size. and is not framed. The condition was rated B-: Good Condition, Signs of Handling and Age. Additional details: The poster "Prints to Date at Wetterling Gallery" features Hamilton's interpretation of Marilyn Monroe, based on famous media images of her, including photo shoots and film stills. In this case, the images appearing as negatives blown up for the poster were part of his experimental approach, where he played with different media, photographic techniques, and the concept of reproduction itself. Richard Hamilton, the British artist often associated with the Pop Art movement, did not have a personal relationship with Marilyn Monroe. However, he was fascinated by the ways in which mass media and celebrity culture shaped public perceptions of iconic figures like Monroe.

    Est: $60 - $80

"Mick Jagger release print" by Richard Hamilton, 2014 Unsigned Offset Lithograph. Paper size is 28.5 x 26.75 inches, with an image size of 21.5 x 26.75 inches. The Offset Lithograph is from an unknown edition size. and is not framed. The condition was rated A: Mint. Additional details: This reproduction features one of the iconic images of the Swinging Sixties, created by artist Richard Hamilton. Titled Release, the image shows Mick Jagger and Hamilton’s art dealer, Robert Fraser, handcuffed together in the back of a police car, shielding their faces from photographers. The photograph captures the moment after both were arrested for possession of drugs in 1967. This infamous incident followed a high-profile police raid at Keith Richards’ home, leading to the arrest of several individuals, including Jagger and Fraser. The image has become symbolic of the cultural clash between the conservative establishment and the rising counterculture of the 1960s, with Jagger and Fraser, figures at the forefront of art and music, being seen as rebellious icons of that era.

    Hamilton, Richard: La Scala Milano

    Est: €2,600 - €3,000

La Scala Milano Photogravure und Farbsiebdruck auf leichtem Karton. 1968. 25,5 x 37,5 cm (50,5 x 59,4 cm). Signiert "R. Hamilton". Auflage 65 num. Ex. Lullin 71. - Please ask for condition reports for individual lots, as the condition is usually not mentioned in the catalogue.
