Born 1925 in Simi Valley, Californian artist Bill Hampton was self-taught. At age six, Hampton painted murals on the walls of his school. As an adult, he was an admirer of Old Masters such as Rembrandt. After serving in the Navy Air Corps in World War II, painter Bill Hampton became an illustrator for Walt Disney Studios for a short time.

Bill Hampton portrait paintings are in the collection at the Oakland Museum of California. His art has also been adapted for greeting cards and prints.
