Universität Salzburg, 1991, vol. II, cat. rais. WV 39 Exhibited: 1911, Galerie Heinemann, Munich “Begijnenhoven” or “Godshuizen” were medieval building complexes of the charitable lay order of the Beguines in Belgium. One of the most important surviving architectural monuments is the Godshuis de Meulenaere in Bruges, which picturesque court ensemble is docu-mented in this painting. F. A. Harta spent busy working times in Belgium in 1910–1911 and combined elements of Austrian expressionism and the Secession. Paintings with the title “Godshuis Moelenaere” were exhibited in the Galerie Heinemann, Munich in 1912 and in the XLIII. exhibition of the Secession, Vienna, lot no. 3, in 1913. They might refer to this painting.
