Oil on canvas, depicting the captain seated before a window and holding a telescope, 27 x 21 3/4 in., housed in likely original gilt and grain-painted molded wood frame. Condition: Minor retouch. Note: George G. Hartwell was one of the Prior-Hamblin group of painters. He painted signs and portraits in Bridgewater, Massachusetts, and Auburn, Maine.
