    William Hatherell, R.I. (1855-1928) Archive of letters and documents, to include: Diploma certificate conferring his election to the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours dated Windsor 13th July 1888 and signed by HM Queen Victoria. Certificate for Associate Membership of The Royal British Colonial Society of Artists dated 11th December 1920 and signed by Thomas Cooper Gotch, as President. Certificate of specific merit from The World’s Columbian Commission (U.S.A.), International Exhibition, Chicago 1893. Black and white photograph of the artist in livery attire, in oval gilt frame. An album containing around 60 letters and cards addressed to the artist from his British and American publishers, authors, fellow artists and well-wishers, together with newspaper articles, Royal and other ephemera. Correspondents include Hodder & Stoughton (re Romeo & Juliet paintings,1912), The Society of Illustrators (New York), George Clausen, Stanhope Alexander Forbes, George Robey, Sydney Boot and Agnes Ethel Conway (re Edith Cavell memorial painting). Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House: two letters signed by Princess Marie Louise (1922), a letter of thanks sent from Buckingham Palace on behalf of Queen Mary (1924) and an invitation card to visit the Queens’ Dolls’ House Exhibition and the Palace of Arts (1924) The Hardy letter is stuck down with glue to the scrapbook - see additional images.
