    1879. Oil/cardboard, 22,5 x 22,5 cm, on the reverse sign. and dat. F. Heimerdinger 1879 as well as inscribed 'Eigenthum des Musentisches der Himmelsleiter Hamburg' and more inscriptions, framed under glass, uninspected out of frame. - The inscriptions are addressed to an apprentice painter and show with the trompe l'oeil of the wooden wall, the hand and the egg the mastery to be achieved. - German still life, animal and genre painter. H. studied at the Düsseldorf and Munich academies under Th. Hildebrandt, among others. He was the founder of a painting school in Munich and a member of the Hamburg Künstler-Verein. From 1842 to 1845, he continued his studies at the Academy in Munich. Heimerdinger then established a drawing school for painters and sculptors in Hamburg. His artistic approach of drawing from real models later became a usual practice at German art schools. Heimerdinger was specialized in animal and still life paintings that were very popular due to their trompe l'oeil effect.
