Poul Henningsen conceived it in 1958 in response to the constant variations in the shape and size of light bulbs, applying his research on light control and distribution. Its structure of overlapping shades prevents direct view of the light source and provides soft, uniform lighting, reducing glare from any angle. At the same time, the succession of discs and curved profiles creates a sculptural silhouette of great balance, where functionality and form are fully integrated. The PH 5 model is part of the collection at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. He is currently representing at the Danish Museum of Art and Design, the MoMA in New York and the Victoria & Albert in London, among many others.

The PH 3/2 table lamp was designed by Poul Henningsen for Louis Poulsen. It is a variant created from his 1958 PH Artichoke and, like the former, is characterized above all by the quality of a design that visibly contributes to beautifying the architectural space in which it is placed.     POUL HENNINGSEN (Denmark, 1894-1967). Ceiling lamp model "PH Krone", 1933. Metal and yellow opaline glass. Measurements: 60 x 70 x 70 cm (lampshades: 20 cm). This model is part of the famous lighting system developed by Poul Henningsen, based on the superposition of screens to achieve a diffuse light, without glare and of great environmental quality. The crown-shaped structure ("Krone") organizes the arms in a radial fashion, each topped by staggered lampshades that distribute the light in a uniform and balanced manner. The yellow hue of the glass reinforces the warm, domestic character of the piece, in line with Scandinavian design principles. Designer, architect and critic, Henningsen was one of the key figures of interwar Danish culture and a strong advocate of functionalism. He focused much of his work on the study of lighting, developing innovative solutions that combine science and aesthetics. His work, among which the famous "PH Artichoke" lamp stands out, is today represented in important institutions such as the Designmuseum Danmark, the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
