He illustrated caricatures and satire for magazines such as "Jugend," "Die Gartenlaube," and "Simplicissimus." In 1914, he founded the group "Die Sechs" (The Six) with Emil Preetorius, Valentin Zietara, Franz Paul Glass, Carl Moos, and Max Schwarzer. Initially a poster designer, he created advertising and political posters (e.g., the Bavarian Order Block), and in the 1920s turned to book illustration, etchings, and lithographs. His travels inspired his expressionist landscape paintings. He left the Munich Jugendstil behind early on and developed a distinctive personal style. In particular, Heubner illustrated caricatures for the magazines "Jugend", "Die Gartenlaube" and "Simplicissimus". Together with Emil Preetorius, Valentin Zietara, Franz Paul Glass, Carl Moos and Max Schwarzer, he founded the artists' group "Die Sechs" in 1914. Heubner first appeared as a poster designer. In the next few years he designed advertising posters, but also political ones, including for the Bayerischer Ordnungsblock, a völkisch-nationalist association. In the 1920s he turned more to book illustration, creating etchings and lithographs. In his paintings of the 1920s, created while traveling, Heubner arrived at an expressionist conception of landscape. From 1920 he was a member of the Munich Secession and exhibited there regularly. In 1927 he became professor of free graphics at the Munich School of Applied Arts. From 1932 to 1940 Heubner worked at the Nuremberg State School of Applied Arts and from 1940 until his retirement in 1949 at the Academy in Munich. In 1944 his studio in Munich was destroyed; until 1951 Heubner lived in Chieming. Nach der Auflösung der Gruppe wandte er sich der Buchillustration zu. – Verso komplett mit Japan verstärkt, rechter Rand mit, teils hinterlegten Läsuren und dünnen Farbstreifen der Lithographieplatten. Oberhalb zwei Einrisse und ein größerer Knick, rechter Rand mit hinterlegter, größerer Fehlstelle. – Dabei: Walenty Zietara. Münchener Fest-Konzerte. Tonhalle München. Dirigent Ferdinand Löwe Wien. München, Vereinigte Kunstanstalten, 1912. - DfP 3496. - Konzertplakat des in der Provinz Posen geborenen polnisch-deutschen und in München tätigen Werbegraphikers Walenty Zietara (auch Valenty oder Valentin; 1883-1935), der ab 1908 in Schwabing tätig war und 1914 mit seinen Künstlerkollegen Franz Paul Glass, Friedrich Heubner, Carl Moos, Emil Preetorius und Max Schwarzer die Künstlervereinigung Die Sechs gründete. Ziele der Gruppe waren die Verbesserung der Werbegraphik, ihre Vermarktung und Verbreitung. Aus ihr ging dann 1931 die Neue Vereinigung Münchener Plakatkünstler, der neben Zietara vor allem auch Ludwig Hohlwein angehörte. - Leichte Knickspuren, minimale Randeinrisse, kaum fleckig und nicht aufgezogen, Stempel "Vereinigte Münchener Plakat-Institute, Hartl & Pierling", sehr schönes Plakat.

Friedrich Heubner (1886-1974) Friedrich Heubner studied at the art school of his hometown Dresden before moving to Munich in 1908. There he studied until 1910 with Julius Dietz. For marketing of advertising orders Heubner founded in 1914 together with other poster artists the group "Die Sechs" (The Six). As a member of the Munich Secession he exhibited regularly from 1920 on. In 1927 Heubner was initially a professor at the School of Applied Arts in Munich, moved to the State School of Applied Arts in Nuremberg in 1932 and taught from 1940 until his retirement at the Academy in Munich. After a beginning bound to Art Nouveau, Friedrich Heubner quickly developed his own style. In addition to advertising posters he created cartoons for the magazines Jugend, Die Gartenlaube and Simplicissimus as well as book illustrations.
