The two calendars, Visions of Other Worlds: A New Beginning, A New World (1990) and Visions of Other Worlds (1991), remain largely in their original factory shrink wrap, with a small, strategic opening at one corner of the plastic to allow for the artists, Tim and Rita Hildebrandt, to apply their authentic signatures. The book The Brothers Hildebrandt: A Book About the Artists exhibits minor shelf wear to the cover, including a slight crease visible on the top right corner. The book Greg and Tim Hildebrandt The Tolkien Years shows minimal shelf wear consistent with age and handling. All pages appear clean and intact across the entire collection. They don't realize the amount of work that is done before we even start the paintings. We did very elaborate, full-sized pencil drawings for almost all of our Tolkien work. We had to do them this detailed not only for ourselves, but for Ballantine, in order to get their approval and to check for inaccuracies."
