    Swiss Black Forest Large Wood Yoked Oxen Sculpture

    Attributed to Johann Huggler (Swiss, 1834-1912), a carved Black Forest wood figural sculpture depicting two yoked oxen standing side by side upon a naturalistic textured base adorned with floral and foliate detail. The muscular forms are rendered with realistic precision, displaying intricately hand carved fur, expressive faces, and carefully detailed rope harnessing connecting the pair. The integral oval plinth features relief carved trim and a central edelweiss motif, a traditional Alpine symbol frequently associated with Swiss Black Forest carving. No apparent maker's marks. Provenance South American Collection. Dimensions: 14 X 21 X 14 in. Condition: Good overall antique condition with expected surface wear and patina, and visible age-related hairline fractures at the base.
