Born in Birmingham in 1876, artist Edgar Hunt had no formal artistic training but instead was tutored by his father who was an art teacher. Influenced by his brother Walter, also an artist, he painted realistic depictions of farm animals. Many of Edgar Hunt's artworks for sale are meticulously detailed paintings of poultry living on his own farm.
Artist Edgar Hunt rarely exhibited his work, but he did show 11 of his animal paintings at the Royal Society of Artists in Birmingham. Due to the Industrial Revolution, many rural workers had moved to urban areas to prosper and missed the simplicity and beauty of farm life; as a result, Edgar Hunt's paintings became increasingly popular and sold extremely well.
