§ INKIE (BRITISH B. 1970) INKIE (BRITISH B. 1970) Cannes Cannes Girl signed, titled and dated Inkie 2008 (on the reverse) acrylic and spray paint on canvas 200 x 200 cm unframed ARR Inkie is one of the most notorious graffiti writers in UK history to emerge out of the â80s Bristol scene, painting alongside 3D, Nick Walker and Banksy. There he began his artistic career in the early 1980s as a member of the Crime Incorporated Crew (CIC) together with Felix and Joe Braun. He came 2nd in the 1989 World Street Art Championships. Later that smae year, Inkie was named the âKingâ of the 73 writers arrested in the UKâs largest ever Graffiti bust, Operation Anderson. In 1998, Inkie arranged the Walls on Fire event with Banksy, on the site of the future At-Bristol centre. He has subsequentially worked in the video game industry, as head of design for SEGA, Xbox, and currently resides in Jade Jaggers west London studio. As in-house artist and designer for prints, illustrations, clothing and with his trademark beauty on large-scale pieces, the globally respected artist. Inkieâs works are popular in merging Art Nouveau with street art in his signature style. He has sourced inspiration from a diverse range of places. This included Punk Rock culture, Mayan architecture, William Morris, Alfons Mucha and Islamic geometry. He teaches art and graphic design for children and students. Nevertheless, he remains loyal to his paintings of the Ink Nouveau Ladies. His works are part of the collections of Robbie Williams, Jade Jagger, Fatboy Slim, Chemical Brothers and many more. He has had exhibitions in Ibiza, Barcelona, Lisbon and Warsaw, to name a few. He has exhibited worldwide. His art published in the books Bankys Bristol, Children of the Can, Graffiti World and magazines Graphotism and Dazed & Confused

This image was originally used as a design for Club Yeyo and reproduced on canvas in 2008 by the artist specifically for this sale. Club Yeyo Club Yeyo were one of the innovative early club promoters in and around Bristol. They introduced the likes of Paul Oakenfold and Laurent Garnier to the south west's clubbing fraternity and frequently hosted club nights in Bristol, London & Amsterdam. Interiors were often supplied by Mutoid Waste who recently organised the Mutate Britain show. This design was also painted on the front of the infamous Barton Hill youth club in Bristol, the centre of the Bristol graffiti scene.
