Biography

The imaginative realism of Jamie Wyeth's paintings, whether portraits or landscapes, were a stark contrast to the popular abstract techniques that most emerging artists of that time were influenced by. Images of pigs, sheep, and other livestock created in oils and watercolors were among Jamie Wyeth's art for sale during his early career. Later he took on more political subjects, even sketching the court trials of Watergate in 1974.

Jamie Wyeth's paintings eventually attracted the attention of some Kennedy family friends, and he was asked to do a posthumous portrait of JFK.
