Emmanuel Taiwo Jegede, Nigerian b.1943 - Bird hybrid; carved wood on wooden base, incised with artist's name on the underside 'Emmanuel', H60 x W75 x D27 cm Provenance: Private Collection, acquired directly from the artist Note: Jegede worked between Nigeria and the UK, creating hydrid forms combining traditional carving techniques with a modern aesthetics. His work was featured in the 'Second World Black and African Festival of Arts and Culture' in Lagos in 1977 alongside Aubrey Williams, Donald Locke, Winston Branch and Ronald Moody.
