For your consideration is this framed, limited edition print titled, "Navajo Sky" done by artist Gary Kapp, signed and numbered by the artist. Born in 1942 in Ogden, Utah, Gary Kapp grew up on an Oregon farm. In 1966, he received his art degree from Brigham Young University. In the evenings, he resumed his graduate studies and studied with Kenneth Riley, a western artist. Around this period, he started working for a motion picture studio, where he painted backgrounds, visualized films, and illustrated film strips for almost 10 years. Major galleries in Arizona, Texas, New Mexico, Wyoming, Colorado, and Utah have displayed his art extensively. He won the People's Choice Award in 1999 and the Swan Graphics Award in 1982, and he is a member of the Northwest Rendezvous Group. Additionally, he has appeared in "Art of the West" and "Art West Magazine." Major collections of his artwork include those of Jon Huntsman, Jack Byrne, Steve Young, Alan Ashton, Midland Bank, Arizona Bank, Sears Tower, and Brigham Young University. The print shows a Navajo Native American tending to a heard of goats as the sky and clouds tower over head. The piece is signed by the artist in the bottom left hand corner reading, "Gary Kapp" while the bottom right hand corner is marked with the limited edition number reading, "146/2250". It is triple matted with matting paper and set in a black frame. It shows good condition overall with little to no wear present and no signs of damage noted. The visible artwork measures 12 3/4" L x 18 1/2" W, while the entire piece measures 21 1/4" L x 26 7/8" W x 1 1/4" D. It has a total weight of 6 pounds and 8 ounces.

Biography from Trailside Galleries: Gary Kapp was born in Ogden, Utah in 1942. When he was four, his father bought a ranch in Oregon, where he was raised until he went to college. He graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in art in 1966. He continued graduate work in the evenings for awhile and spent one summer studying with Kenneth Riley. About this time he went to work for a motion picture studio, where he spent nearly ten years illustrating film strips, visualizing movies, and painting backdrops. Because his interest in fine art was so intense, he painted every spare moment after work and on weekends, until 1976 when he left commercial work and began to paint full time. Having spent his formative years on a ranch, it soon became evident that his favorite subjects were Western. His work is widely shown in major galleries in Arizona, Texas, New Mexico, Wyoming, Colorado, and Utah. He is a member of the Northwest Rendezvous Group, winning the Swan Graphics Award in 1982 and the People's Choice Award in 1999. Several of his paintings have been reproduced in limited editions by major print companies such as New York Graphics, Millpond Press, Swan Graphics, Texas Art Press, and 3-M Company. He has also been featured in "Art West Magazine" and "Art of the West". His work is in such major collections as Midland Bank, Arizona Bank, Sears Tower, Brigham Young University, and the collections of Jon Huntsman, Jack Byrne, Steve Young, and Alan Ashton. Gary, his wife, Diane, and their family live in Provo, Utah, among some of the most beautiful mountain scenery in the world, and where there is an abundance of landscape and Indian subjects.

This is an original oil on canvas painting by Gary Kapp, a Utah artist. Kapp was born in Ogden, Uah and grew up on a ranch in Oregon. He graduated from BYU in 1966 with a degree in art. He worked at a motion picture studio for several years. In 1976, he left to pursue his passion for painting. He is best known for his Western landscapes and Native American paintings. This painting depicts a cowboy with his horse and mule getting spooked by a grizzly bear. The piece shows incredibly fine detail and artistic ability. The painting has been signed by the artist in the lower left corner and is in good condition. The frame measures 34.75" x 42.75".
