Bildnis Albrecht Dürers in halber Figur. Kupferstich nach Johannes Rottenhammer. 34,1 x 20,6 cm. 1608. Hollstein 178. Wz. Doppelkopfadler. -- -- Der Kupferstich entstand, wie die Inschrift mitteilt, nach einem von Rottenhammer gefertigten Portrait, welches wiederum ursprünglich ein Selbstbildnis Dürers zur Grundlage hatte, das der deutsche Meister von sich selbst in dem berühmten "Rosenkranzfest" von 1506 im rechten Mittelgrund unterbrachte. - Ganz ausgezeichneter, gleichmäßiger Druck mit schmalem Rand. Double portrait of Albrecht Dürer. Two full-length portraits of Dürer stand on opposite sides of a table with a very bizarre shaped base. They are positioned in front of an architectural structure with columns and central round arch that overlooks a corridor with perspective. The print presents various tools related to Durer's work as a painter, printmaker and art theorist. Several inscriptions refer to Dürer and his exceptional talent that would continue to resonate long after his death.
