    Joseph (Joe) Knowles (Massachusetts, Washington 1869-1942) original pencil signed etching. Signed in pencil 'Joseph Knowles' lower right. Titled "Ilwaco Trollers" on artists paper label included. This etching is printed on paper salvaged from wreckage of the Steamship Iowa, wrecked on Peacock Spit January 12, 1936--All hands lost. Measures 5 1/4" x 8 3/8" (plate size) and measures 8 5/8" x 11 3/8" (sheet size). Etching image area is in very good to excellent condition with toning over exposed image area. Margins have paper loss, sheet is mounted, overall fair to good. Unframed. Provenance: The Amity Arts Foundation Collection. We ship most items in-house with the exception of furniture, large or heavy artwork, heavier items or extremely fragile items.
