    Est: $4,000 - $8,000

Bob Knox (American, b. 1953) Wake Me When It’s Over Acrylic on canvas Circa 2006 66" H x 96" W This large-scale acrylic painting by American artist Bob Knox presents a late-night cityscape rendered as a still life, illuminated by bright lights. The composition evokes an atmospheric urban scene, combining Knox’s characteristic use of color and layered imagery. Overall excellent condition. Provenance: Jack Shainman Gallery, New York City, New York. Bob Knox (American, b. 1953) was born in New York City and raised in Connecticut. He studied at L’Ecole des Beaux Arts in Rennes, France, and at Wesleyan University. A prolific painter, he has worked daily for much of his adult life, creating compositions marked by irony, visual metaphor, and layered narratives that place everyday objects in unexpected contexts. Between 1980 and 1996, during his graphic period, he gained recognition for over 20 conceptually driven covers for The New Yorker. Knox also authored and illustrated several best-selling children’s books for Rizzoli Publishing, including The Great Art Adventure and the Dave and Jane series. Have a similar item to sell?
