Marina Kontorina Sold at Auction Prices

Architect and painter, Marina Kontorina, emigrated to the United States from Russia in 1996. After the death of her husband she worked in an architectural design firm in Grand Rapids, Michigan, once again practicing the career she studied in Russia. When she was laid off due to budget cut backs, Marina used the skills she had as an architect to advance her career in fine arts. Like in architecture, Marina practices collaboration between the artist and the client. Marina paints realistic watercolor portraits with an effort to capture the essence of the person and their personal story. Her clients respond to her works often noting how they remind them of a place, memory or event.
