Wolf & Sohn, Munich Dimensions: 67.5 x 49 cm Very good condition The advertising poster for the paint producer Bössenroth is printed on dark grey cardboard. It has most probably been realised with original black paint by Bössenroth. Paint tubes are placed on a pile in the upper part of the image. Below is the corporate name large in German “Bössenroth paint oil and temp. Dachau near Munich”. Carl Bössenroth (1963-1935) was a German painter. He worked in Munich, Eckernförde and Berlin. During his time in Dachau he founded a paint manufactory and produced oil and tempera pastel paints. The advertising poster is in very good condition. The paper has got minimal age-related signs of wear and use. The printer’s mark is located on the front side in German “Print Dr. C. Wolf & Sohn, Munich”. The number “306” is noted in ballpoint on the reverse side. The dimensions of the print are 67.5 x 49 cm. Otto Kopp (1879-1947) The painter and graphic artist Otto Kopp was born in 1879 in Munich. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich under Franz von Stuck and Carl von Marr. Later, he himself taught life painting at the Academy. Kopp also represented the Munich New Secession, and he worked for the magazine Jugend. Dr. C. Wolf & Sohn, München Dr. C. Wolf & Sohn is a printer who is still active in Munich, and who used to be the royal purveyor to the court. Today they are the official university’s printer. Dr. C. Wolf & Sohn is especially well-known for poster prints produced around the turn of the century. They had also received commissions for Munich Secession exhibition posters.
