Alexander Kosolapov, *1943 Moscow, Russian-American sculptor and painter. 1975 emigrated to the USA after conflicts with the Soviet state and has lived in New York City ever since. Kosolapov is considered a leading representative of the Sots Art (phonetic spelling of the Russian Soz = Socialist). This is seen as a counterpart to American pop art, in which communist and western capitalist motifs are processed and collide.

Spuren von Graphit über dem Motivkopf. Kosolapov lebt in New York und Moskau. Der Probedruck wurde auf die Rückseite der von Kosolapov gefertigten Farbserigraphie "Coca-Cola" gedruckt. Diese angeschnitten. Kosolapov lives in New York and Moscow. Coloured serigraphy on vellum. Signed and numbered - traces of use along the edges. Several dot-like brown spots along the serigraph. Several smudges on the serigraph. At lower left a punctiform wear of the paint. Very thin traces of graphite above the head.

        "Space for Rent" Kosolapov was born 1943 in Moscow and studied from the late 1950s at the Moscow Surikov Art Institute. He is one of the greats Russian modernists.
