Condition A-: slight discoloration around pin holes in corners; unobtrusive repaired tears at edges, some into image. In its first year after World War II, the festival was won by Jean Renoir's The Southerner.

Condition B+: repaired tears, minor creases and abrasions in margins; minor abrasions in image. Begun in 1932, the Venice Film Festival became an annual event in 1935, held in conjunction with the city's Biennale. From1942, it was suspended for three years because of World War II. Krayer was a graphic designer and illustrator. He designed several different posters for the film festival between the 1930s and 50s, a few of which are variations on this evocative image of a gondola casting a shadow of a filmstrip. Literature: Aloi Roberto, Esempi, Milano, p. 148 (ill.) Gino Krayer (b. 1906) Gino Krayer was born in 1906 in Venice. As a painter, he exhibited his works in various biennials. In 1950 he was a co-founder of the Centro Studi Pittori Arte del Vetro, which was renamed in Fucina degli Angeli in 1954. The objects designed by him were executed by Archimede Seguso.
