Léopold Kretz (1907-1990) Tête d’enfant Bronze à patine brune Signé et daté “ L. Kretz / 1933 ” à l’arrière dans le cou Porte le cachet du fondeur “ CIRE / C. VALSUANI / PERDUE ” H. 30 cm, sur un socle en marbre noir de Belgique H. 15 cm En 1931, Léopold Kretz, natif de Lwow en Pologne, obtient une bourse d’étude qui lui permet d’étudier la sculpture à Paris. Il fréquente les ateliers de Landowski et Gaumont à l’École supérieure nationale des Beaux-Arts puis celui de Bourdelle à l’Académie de la Grande Chaumière. Au cours de sa carrière, Kretz côtoie les grands noms de la statuaire tels que Brancusi et Maillol. Il expose régulièrement aux Salons d’Automne et des Tuileries et il reçoit plusieurs commandes officielles. Notre portrait est probablement la Tête d’enfant en bronze présenté au Salon des Tuileries en 1933 sous le numéro 1366.
