Chiswick AuctionsLYNTON LAMB (1907-1977) Hotel Bedroom, Normandy ink, squared and annotated for transfer 45 x 60 cm (17 3/4 x 23 1/2 in) Executed circa 1938 Footnote: Written on the back by Allen Freer: The figures in the drawing are Mr and Mrs Lamb - she at the wash basin, he reflected in the mirror. The drawing was made in Normandy to which the Lamb's had visited. Lamb wanted to make drawings of the town of which 'Madam Bovary' is cited. He made a series of lithographs for a time edition of that novel - but all came to nothing owing to the outbreak of war. Lamb was deeply interested in French painting and literature.
