Viggo Langer malte Landschaften und dörfliche Umgebungen, die den Einfluss von Künstlern des Goldenen Zeitalters, insbesondere von Vilhelm Kyhn und Johan Thomas Lundbye zeigen. Wie diese stellte er hauptsächlich die Landschaft Seelands dar, wobei der Schwerpunkt jedoch stärker auf Farben und Licht lag.
