Also signed on verso with a Galerie Walter Klinkhoff label on verso as well. A large-scale, abstract painting by Canadian artist Danielle Lanteigne. As the title suggests, the subject of the painting is a red table and chair rendered in a minimalist yet expressive manner, against a white background. Lanteigne has stripped all other elements from the composition, removing any visual distraction from the striking composition replete with bold geometric forms, loose gestural brushstrokes, rich textures, and contrasting vibrant hues. Lanteigne is known for featuring everyday objects such as doors, windows, chairs, and tables - bringing those inanimate objects to life with her brush. Lanteigne’s works combine geometric shapes and stylized everyday objects, creating new forms such as rectangular lemons or squared apples. She is interested in manipulating the perspectives of objects and her works often having a disappearing vanishing point. Lanteigne studied at Concordia University and perfected her style under Francois Sullivan, renowned choreographer and artist who was crucial to the formation of the Automatistes.
